Lighting

Lighting is an important factor in the classroom for a student who has vision impairment. Even illumination and a glare free environment are usually desirable. Blinds, curtains and overhead lighting help create favourable lighting conditions.

Students should be seated with their back toward uncovered windows to minimise discomfort from light shining directly in their eyes. Teachers should avoid standing with their back towards an uncovered window as they will be seen as a shadow against the brightness of the window.
